Malnutrition, dehydration and diminished cognitive capacity are serious side-effects of drug and alcohol abuse.
Proper Nutrition gives the body energy to fight infections, maintain muscle mass, think clearly, pump blood and oxygen throughout the body and sustain life.
Opiate users tend to eat high sugar content foods and rarely eat a balanced meal.
Alcoholics tend to get the majority of their caloric intake from alcohol - which has zero nutritional value and causes acute dehydration.
